Manolis Koutouzis –
These are another great bullet. They shoot true and accurate like everything else made by Travis. They do let you know though but that’s half the fun of loading 45-70. Shot them out of a Win 1886 and Rossi R35 with great results. I’ve bought many different calibers and weights from T&B and I’ve never had any issues with shipping, they go out the same day, all the time. Questions? You basically get an immediate response from the man himself. My only limitation is funds availability but that’s another story.

Travis has mentioned to me that this bullet is a hit or miss proposition when used in a 45-70. I believe the problem arises when it is driven too fast. Using 40.0 gr. of IMR 3031, with a velocity of approximately 1400 fps, I’ve received outstanding accuracy with both a Browning Model 1885 and Marlin Model 1895 rifles. The latter even with Micro-Groove rifling. Chamber pressure, per Lyman’s handloading manual, is well below 25,000 CUP, making my load safe even for original Springfield Trapdoor rifles. This bullet with black powder outperformed the 405 gr. bullet at two miles during the famous Sandy Hook tests of 1879.
